TRUSTBIX INC. DELIVERS DATA SOLUTION FOR WEST-CENTRAL FORAGE ASSOCIATION

TRUSTBIX INC. DELIVERS DATA SOLUTION FOR WEST-CENTRAL FORAGE ASSOCIATION

For Immediate Release:

November 17, 2020

Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

TrustBIX Inc. (“TrustBIX”) (TSXV:TBIX) is pleased to announce that it has completed its first deliverables arising from an MoU signed with West-Central Forage Association (WCFA) supporting a project aiming to improve genetic traceability in multi-sire breeding systems used in commercial herd management.

One of the shortcomings of the multi-sire system is that producers are often unaware of which bulls are siring calves, and this makes it difficult to ensure desirable genetic traits are introduced through purchase of specific bulls.  By linking bulls to their offspring using available genetic technologies, producers can better evaluate if they are achieving the desired outcomes of their breeding plans in multi-sire herds.

This multi-year project will demonstrate the benefits of a systematic approach to breeding and how sire-progeny links and other herd performance information can be used to generate measurable productivity and profitability improvements.

TrustBIX and WCFA had signed an MoU in March 2019 covering a three-year period.  TrustBIX has today completed enhancements to both the data entry and reporting capabilities in BIX to ensure timely support for WCFA for data collection for 2020 and 2021.  TrustBIX will now collect individual herd animal information using its BIX system and provide annual reporting to WCFA..

“Commercial beef producers now have a number of genetic tools available to them, but many have been reluctant to use the available technologies on-farm.  Many are not sure if it will pay on their farm, or are unable to see any advantage to using it in their system,” said Jessica Watson, Project Lead at WCFA.  “Through this project we are able to get some of this technology out to commercial cow-calf producers and leverage expertise from a number of sources to evaluate if in fact there is a place for these technologies in their operations.  We are also able to evaluate additional factors, such as record keeping systems, that may be necessary in order to ensure these operations are getting the most value when they introduce these technologies.”
